Small Business Grants
Are there any small business grants that will help with the start of a business? Yes; there are a lot of them. In fact, the U.S. Government gives out billions of dollars every year.
Many large companies once began as very small companies. As they were developing, these smaller companies gained funding from various government sources. Small business grants are an excellent way to get your business off the ground without paying a lot of upfront costs. The question is, what kind of business grant are you in need of? Once you start to sift through all the government programs out there, things can get rather tedious.
Do you need money to purchase new equipment? Do you need money in order to gain real estate for your business? Are you starting a non-profit business? Are you trying to purchase a farm? All of these things will determine that type of program that you are eligible for. There are numerous federal programs, but there are also some state run programs as well. Additionally, there are a few private grants that may be rewarded to the right type of candidate. So, how do you go about finding all of these programs? Well, this can be the tricky part.
Once you know what kind of program you are seeking, you must then draw up a concrete business plan. With your business plan in hand, you can then start to apply for programs through certain government websites. Beware of websites that charge a fee in order to access applications. All government applications for small business grants are free. Of course, those sites that lump all the grants you are eligible for into one neat package can be useful, though this type of service will cost you a bit of money. Otherwise, you can research the programs that you can apply to through reading business magazines, newspapers, and government publications.
The less money you borrow for your business, the better off you will be. Rather than contacting a lot of lenders that must be paid back with interest, it helps to get a bit of free money from the government.
Take the time to go over all the small business grants available to you. You will soon find that getting some help with funding is as easy as putting in a bit of hard work and elbow grease.
