FRAG Grant
If you are about to enter college and you live in the state of Florida, be sure to look into the FRAG Grant. This grant will help a number of students out with those hefty college tuition fees.
The FRAG Grant (Florida Resident Access Grant) has been set up to help with tuition for those students that are set to attend non-profit colleges and universities within the state of Florida. This program has been put in place by the Florida Department of Education. The department has a number of eligibility requirements that students must meet in order to qualify for this grant, so make sure to go over the following requirements carefully.
The first requirement is quite simple: all applicants must submit paperwork by the deadline set forth. Next, all applicants must be Florida residents for at least twelve months prior to applying. Also, all applicants must be enrolled in a college of university for the first time (this grant does not apply to those students seeking a second bachelor’s degree). Additionally, all students must be enrolled in school (each semester) for a total of twelve credits. There are many more rules to follow concerning this grant, though these are the basic eligibility requirements.
The amount of money that a student will receive from the FRAG Grant is largely up to the state. Most of the time, this amount is based upon a number of key factors. Those that wish to apply for this grant can do so on the Florida State Department website. Be sure to fill out the form carefully, read the fine print, and send in the form by the deadline set forth. If you are eligible for this government program, it makes all the sense in the world to apply for it. While student loans are helpful in order to bridge certain financial gaps, they are not to be relied upon entirely.
Did you know that the average student will graduate college with more than $20,000 worth of debt? This amount will most likely only be paid off within ten years of your graduation date. In short, student loans are never a good idea unless they are absolutely necessary.
The FRAG Grant has been erected in order to help Florida students pay those tuition prices. Take advantage of this program if you fit the eligibility bill.
